The September meeting at the Acton Community Center was a busy mix of business and camaraderie. It is good to get back to work after the summer break, but oh, so much to talk about!

We got it done!
And now, summer is here and Acton Women's Club members do not meet formally during July and August. There will be a meeting for the incoming board members, but the next regular meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 6th at the Acton Community Center at 11:00 am.
On July 5th the Acton & Agua Dulce Women's Clubs joined with the Agua Dulce Civic Association in a luncheon to honor Seniors Club members at the Acton-Agua Dulce Library. Seniors Club president and Agua Dulce Women's Club vice-president Amanda Buchan chose and placed the colorful patriotic decorations while ADWC/AWC/Civic/Chamber of Commerce treasurer presented the food bounty of baked chicken, rice, beans, green salad plus tortillas, chips, salsa and guacamole from El Pollo Loco. Volunteers helping to serve the food were ADWC member Gloria McGillivray and AWC members Sherlene Houston and Kathleen Larsen. Lunch was followed by interesting bingo games and donation drawings.
Yolanda Aiello (President), Kim Clemens, Joy DeLeo (Treasurer), Tina Steibel, Val DeCrowl, Gay Robbins (Vice President), Clara Lankes and Linda Sheehan participated. Photo by Lee Jennings.
Setting up for the Acton 4th of July Parade!
On June 25th, 2017, we joined Shanna at Atria of Santa Clarita to celebrate her 100th birthday! It was a joyous day, in spite of many of us having to circumvent a dangerous fire causing traffic congestion and freeway closures. Luckily we were able to make is and join the frivolities. Even Shanna's son and grandson, Arnie and Kyle, were thwarted in the efforts to get there. Ultimately, they made it!
On June 7th, 2017 the transition was made for the officers and chairpersons for the AWC. Joyce Betts, president since July 1, 2015, passed the gavel to Yolanda Aiello. The meeting was held at Vincent Hill Restaurant with many members in attendance. Thanks were bestowed upon the board members and chairpersons, and Joyce was presented with well-deserved gifts to enhance her time to relax and enjoy the lack of responsibilities!
Incoming president, Yolanda, will be looking forward to the new term, glad to have the incoming officers and chairs at the ready to help her carry on!
